First baby of new year born to Crowleys

Issabella and Tawney Crowley welcomed their first child - and the first baby born to a Wrangell family in 2022 - last week.

Ryleigh Rowan Crowley was born at 3:30 a.m. on Jan. 4 at the PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center. She weighed in at 8 pounds, 1 ounce.

Issabella, 27, said they left for Ketchikan on Dec. 17 since the Wrangell Medical Center doesn't have the capability to deliver babies. Tawney was induced on Jan. 3 and gave birth 14 hours later.

"Baby made her appearance rather quickly after that," Issabella said.

Tawney, 30, is recovering well, and the couple returned to Wrangell last weekend.

"They were giving me medication for several hours, but once things got started, it went very quickly," Tawney said the day after she gave birth. "I'm just exhausted. Every day gets a little better. You don't realize how tired you are until you go through it."

She was thankful for the hospital staff, saying they were incredibly helpful and "super accommodating."

The Crowleys have lived in Wrangell since 2017 and were married in 2018. Ryleigh's grandparents are Tony Flores, Mike and Kim Lane, and Sheri and Jennifer Ridgeway.

As for parenthood, both Tawney and Issabella were ready for it.

"I knew it was always something I wanted, both of us, actually," Tawney said.
