Holiday messages from Wrangell's religious community
We have noticed and cherished day by day:
The generosity of spirit shown by many in fundraising to provide meals for families, music for all at the park, at the pavilion and at the Fourth of July.
The thoughtfully designed Mariners’ Memorial, contributed to by so many. The heartfelt dedication service presenting it as a gift to the community.
Our much-loved teachers, coaches, athletes, musicians, artists who brought forth countless wins and successes for Wrangell. A testimony of devotion, dedication, encouragement, tenacity, and a vision of what can be possible.
The chamber of commerce for bringing the community together to elevate and enhance our well-being socially, economically in sponsoring many occasions of happy fellowship, fun and family activities.
Increasing numbers of interactions and engagements taking place among inter-race and inter-faith communities. Meeting together to mingle, listen and celebrate our precious points of commonality in safe, welcoming, and all-embracing spaces. A flower garden of humanity where diverse colors, culture, cuisine, music and traditions enrich our experience as brothers and sisters.
Our indigenous friends in Wrangell hosting this year’s Celebration in Juneau.
Their honorable welcome chant, the drumming and music for the 2,500-plus attendees.
Their float in the Fourth of July parade. Making and serving fry bread for all to enjoy. Hosting the Sharing our Knowledge Conference, a “Time for Peace”.
Gunalcheesh Ho-ho (literally means “without you it is not possible”). Thank you to all.
We are still hearing musical sounds in the air. How about you? Are you hearing the “Sound of Music” and melodies from the community choir? Wasn’t that out of this world? Our hats off to those who gave their all for us see how talented our Wrangell family is. Omid is saying to his friends “Don’t go to New York for Broadway; come here for our Wrangell-way!”
Now we’re asking you, “What did you notice and cherish of the spirit of Christmas this past year in Wrangell?”
Happy and most joyous Christmas holiday to you all.
