Layla McConachie holds up the ornament she painted at the Bearfest arts workshop July 25 at the Nolan Center, while her grandmother, Betsy McConachie, shares a smile. Layla's ornament will be on display for the holiday season in Washington, D.C., among the thousands created by Alaskans for the Capitol Christmas Tree and other decorated trees around the nation's capital. The biggest tree for the Capitol's West Lawn will come from the Wrangell district of the Tongass National Forest.
