STATE PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE will be in town on Thursday, Jan. 9, and will see clients in the clinic. Immunizations, birth control and STD screening, well-child exams for kids up to age 7, TB screening and medication, Narcan kits and medication disposal bags will be offered. The Public Health Center is in the Kadin Building, 215 Front St. Call 907-723-4611 to make an appointment so the nurse knows which immunizations to bring.

TRAINING SESSION FOR YOUNG TRAPPERS, Wrangell’s dog-owner community will hold a training session for young trappers on what to do if your dog gets caught in a trap. At 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at the U.S. Forest Service office.

WINTER WORKOUT CHALLENGE runs through Feb. 28. Earn points when you work out and a chance to win a six-month Parks and Rec pass and other door prizes. Open to 14 years and up. Register online: http://www.wrangellrec.com.

WRANGELL MARINERS’ MEMORIAL board members will be available to assist in completing applications to add names to the commemorative plaques from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, and again Jan. 13, 22 and 31 at the Nolan Center. Applications are available online at wrangellmarinersmemorial.com. Donations and memberships are also accepted online.

WINTER READING PROGRAM FOR GROWN-UPS Jan. 5 to March 21 at the Irene Ingle Library. Track the books you read for a chance to earn prizes. Audiobooks, e-books and print all count. AUDITIONS FOR SPRING 2025 MUSICAL 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Jan 6-7, at the Nolan Center, for the “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” All ages and experience levels are welcome to audition. Come prepared with a song and to read lines. Directed by Hailey Reeves: 406-262-4360.

ARCHERY OPEN GYM 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays starting Jan. 8 at the community center, with Winston Davies. This is not a class, but rather an open gym. Participants must be at least 14 years old and should have a basic knowledge along with previous archery experience. Equipment is limited. $5 drop-in fee.
