Senior Center temporarily cuts back on lunch service

Due to a staffing shortage, the Senior Center has temporarily suspended in-person lunches, switching to delivered meals for homebound seniors and porch pickups at the building for everyone else.

The center also needs to temporarily cut back on its ride service while it looks to hire someone to fill the driver/assistant cook position.

Rides will be available for health clinic appointments only on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Seniors can get rides to medical appointments, grocery stores, the library, post office or most anywhere else Wednesdays and Fridays.

Lunches will be set out for porch pickup Tuesday through Friday, with meals delivered to homebound seniors those same days — there is no lunch service on Mondays.

To call and reserve a meal or a van ride, contact the Senior Center a day ahead at 907-874-2066.

With the staff shortage, the Wednesday and Friday meals will be premade shelf-stable lunches, while Tuesday and Thursday meals will be homemade at the center.

Also due to a staffing issue, the center will be closed Wednesday through Friday, Jan. 22-24. There will be no meals and no ride service.
